The
MoAA Directory is a listing of the individuals and businesses who are
MoAA members. It is 34 pages of information on Missouri
aquaculture including state organizations; a history of the industry in
Missouri; profiles of featured businesses; and categories under which to
find products or services offered by member businesses. Just
contact MoAA for a copy of the printed
directory or view it now.
We hope the directory is helpful. It contains a lot of information on how the Association works but it is mostly designed to help consumers make better informed choices. Here is a little insight on two categories within the directory, fishing and pond stocking:
The money spent to stock a pond is often a fraction of the construction costs. Stocking quality fish at densities and ratios to accomplish the goals of the pond owner is just as important as properly constructing the pond, but is often where individuals are tempted to cut corners. Buying fish from a private Missouri producer has several advantages that need to be considered before stocking.
Private fishing locations differ from state fishing parks in two major respects. First, no state license or trout stamp is required. This can be a great savings for out-of-state fishermen. Second, it means any fish caught may be kept since there is no size or creel limit on fish caught at private lakes and streams. Private fishing establishments appeal to experienced fly fishermen who seek a quiet day of catch and release as well as those who go to their favorite location because they know they can fill a stringer. They also appeal to beginning fishermen since many businesses clean and ice customers’ catch; offer fishing instruction; sell bait and tackle; or even provide bait and tackle for customers who don’t bring their own.
